Digital Moment: national K-12 AI and coding literacy

The problem

Digital Moment delivers AI and coding literacy education to K-12 educators across Canada. The programs team needed steady direction through a year when the conversation about AI in classrooms kept shifting: hiring, onboarding, coaching, and program decisions that kept national delivery on track.

The approach

I led a team of five program staff and the operations behind them — the full cycle from hiring through performance evaluation and coaching.

On the program side, the question I cared most about was how to talk with kids about AI honestly. One answer was an interactive online activity for K-12 classrooms that I co-initiated: “How sustainable is GenAI?” It invites students to look at the resource costs of generative AI — energy, water, hardware — and reason about them for themselves, rather than being handed a conclusion.

What came of it

“How sustainable is GenAI?” reached 130,000 views within its first two months. The team kept delivering AI and coding literacy programming to educators across the country through a year of rapid change in the field.
